FAQs

Common Questions About
Medicare Part D

What is a drug formulary?
A formulary lists every covered drug in cost tiers. Tier 1 generics have the lowest copays; higher tiers cost more. Formularies change every January — we review your plan each Open Enrollment and switch when savings appear.
What is Extra Help and do I qualify?
Extra Help (LIS) helps people with limited income pay Part D costs. With Full Extra Help you may pay $0 premium and as little as $4–$11 per prescription. We check every client during our free consultation.
Can I have Part D if I have Medicare Advantage?
Most Medicare Advantage plans already include Part D (MA-PD). If your Advantage plan includes drugs, you generally cannot enroll in a separate standalone Part D plan.
What if my drug isn't on the formulary?
You can request a formulary exception, ask your doctor about a covered alternative, or switch plans at Open Enrollment. Call us immediately if you receive a denial — we help with appeals.
